Cooking Process

  1. Step 1: Prepare the Dough:

    • In a mixing bowl, combine whole wheat flour and salt.

    • Add water gradually and knead into a firm, smooth dough.

    • Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 15-20 minutes.

  2. Step 2: Shape the Puris:

    • Divide the dough into small lemon-sized balls.

    • Roll each ball into a small disc (about 3-4 inches in diameter) using a rolling pin. Avoid dusting with flour, if possible.

  3. Step 3: Fry the Puris:

    • Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium-high heat.

    • Once the oil is hot, slide one puri into the oil carefully.

    • Press gently with a slotted spoon, allowing it to puff up.

    • Fry until golden brown on both sides, then remove and drain excess oil on a paper towel.

    • Repeat with the remaining puris.

  4. Serve:

    • Serve hot with aloo curry, chana masala, or your favorite side dish.

Optional Variation

Add a pinch of ajwain (carom seeds) or cumin seeds to the dough for extra flavor.
