Cooking Process

  1. Step 1: Prepare the Potatoes:

    • Wash and peel the potatoes, then slice them thinly using a sharp knife or mandoline slicer for even chips.

    • Place the potato slices in a bowl of cold water and let them soak for 15-20 minutes to remove excess starch.

  2. Step 2: Dry the Potato Slices:

    • Drain the soaked potatoes and pat them dry thoroughly using paper towels. Drying helps achieve a crisp texture during frying.

  3. Step 3: Heat the Oil:

    • In a deep frying pan or pot, heat oil over medium-high heat (around 350°F or 175°C).

  4. Step 4: Fry the Potato Slices:

    • Add the potato slices in small batches to avoid overcrowding.

    • Fry each batch for 2-3 minutes or until the chips turn golden brown and crispy.

    • Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.

  5. Step 5: Season and Serve:

    • Sprinkle salt and any optional seasonings while the chips are still hot.

    • Transfer to a serving bowl, garnish with fresh herbs if desired, and enjoy!

Optional Variation

For baked chips, preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C), arrange potato slices on a baking sheet, brush lightly with oil, and bake for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crispy.
